Toyota MR2 (AW11) Brake UpgradesUpon searching for a good quality front brake system for my 1987 MR2 and not finding any, I chose to undertake the development of a first class brake kit. Shortly into the planning phase of the front brake kit, it was discovered that any improvement to the front brakes was going to require an improvement to the rears as well. The stock front rotors are vented 258mm x 22mm pieces, rears are 264mm x 10mm solid pieces. There is room for larger rotors and calipers in the front, but the rears were already at their limits and must be changed at least to a vented piece. The front kit was designed with 15" wheels in mind (I own several sets of 15" rims) and should fit almost all 16" or larger wheels. In doing research for a rear upgrade, the issue of a parking brake kept coming up. In order to achieve both stronger brake power and include a parking brake, we are using a larger Toyota rear brake caliper with custom brackets and larger rotors. Using the Genuine Toyota parts in the rear allow a selection of different brake pads and retains the existing parking brake cables and brackets. Any of these kits are completely compatible with the existing stock master cylinder. For those requiring more control, we also offer a dual master cylinder kit for the MR2. These kits are made in batch runs of 4-6 kits at a time please contact us for availability. AP Racing 4-Pot Front Brake SystemMatching Toyota Rear Brake System Dual Master Cylinder
