WC Engineering Transaxle Services

We can rebuild the Toyota C-5X and C-6X series transaxle used in many Toyotas and the Renault UN1 as used in the 1989-1995 Lotus Esprit SE. We offer rebuild services as needed. We also offer rebuilds to our stringent specifications with a 12-month 12,000-mile warranty. We can also install most limited slip differentials in both the Toyota and Renault transaxles. The preference is the TRD helical gear LSD for the C-5X/C-6X series transaxles and the Quaife helical gear unit for the Renault boxes.

Rebuild C-50/C-52/C-60: $1600 (plus shipping).
Includes all new syncros, new needle bearings on all drive gears, new differential bearings, and input and output shaft bearings.

Tear Down and Inspection of C-50/C-52/C-60: $350 (plus shipping).
We will assess the condition of the unit and provide a written quote for service work required and any other service work recommended by WC Engineering.

Install LSD in C-XX Series Transaxle: $600 (plus shipping).
Customer supplies the transaxle and the correct LSD. If the differential does not fit the case or has the incorrect axle splines, no work will be performed. No additional parts are included in this price. If new differential bearings are needed, the cost is extra.

WC Engineering can offer a custom C-62 transaxle for the AW11 MR2. This the disassembly of two transmissions and mating into one 6-speed box that will bolt directly into your 1985-1989 Toyota MR2.

Mate C-52 and C-60: $750 (plus shipping).
The customer supplies a good C-52 and a good C-60.

Mate C-52 and WC Engineering-Supplied C-60: $2300 (plus shipping).
The customer supplies a good C-52.

Outright purchase of a C-62 from WC Engineering is $2720 (plus shipping).

If you are interested in a TRD helical gear or clutch pak LSD installed at the same time, the additional cost is $1720.

Also, if the transaxle supplied needs any parts when it arrives, the cost of the parts will be additional. Good used C-60s are very difficult to obtain. Most need new syncros.

The Renault transaxle used in the Lotus Esprit can handle more power than most people give it credit for. Unfortunately, most first-time Esprit owners are also first-time manual transmission drivers, have limited experience with a manual transaxle, or the Esprit is the only car they currently own with a manual transmission. This leaves us (the second, third, or forth owners) dealing with transmission issues from the previous owners.

Supply and Install LSD in Renault UN1 Transaxle: $2000 (plus shipping).
WC Engineering supplies and installs the correct LSD in customer's Renault transaxle. Includes the proper bearing pre-load set. No additional parts are included in this price. If new differential bearings are needed or requested there is an additional $277 charge.

Install LSD in Renault UN1 Transaxle: $600 (plus shipping).
The customer supplies the transaxle and the correct LSD. If the differential does not fit the case or has the incorrect axle splines, no work will be performed. No additional parts are included in this price. If new differential bearings are needed the parts would be extra.

Service for the Renault transaxles is available at standard shop rates plus parts. WC Engineering welcomes you to supply your own parts if you desire, but please contact us to insure the correct parts are sourced.
